Kids get their views, aspirations across during TN50 dialogue

KAJANG: The nation's children had their voices heard loud and clear today as they spoke of their aspirations and hopes on the road to the National Transformation 2050 (TN50).

In a special session hosted by the Women, Family and Community Development ministry, 500 school children from around the country gave suggestions and ideas that wowed the attending VIPs including Minister Datuk Seri Rohani Abdul Karim and Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin.

Among the suggestions were for the government to focus on mental health of children, eradication of sexual abuse cases involving children and even for Malaysia to host and win the World Cup come the year 2050.

Rohani said hearing the aspirations of children on TN50 was crucial as they want their voices to be heard and their suggestions implemented.

Khairy added that the main target group of TN50 were children, so hearing from them meant a great deal to them and the government.

In the session he called interesting, lively and one of the best he had ever attended, Khairy added that the suggestions were testament that country would be in the good hands of these future leaders.

Other aspirations raised by the children include minimising of school syllabus as they had little time for rest, creation of robots that would help their parents do household chores, setting up of a mini parliament consisting of children and total eradication on cigarettes and smokers by the year 2050.
