Sabah bully video: Kunak education office swings into action

KUNAK: The district education office will conduct an internal investigation into the case of a secondary school girl being beaten up by a group of other girls at the school field, last week.

Kunak education assistant officer Abu Samah A Bakar said his party viewed the incident seriously and he has ordered his personnel to look into the matter and take appropriate action.

“Our department also has no qualms in assisting police investigations.

“Since the incident happened outside school hours, our side will take appropriate action based on the standard operating procedure (SOP) and existing guidelines,” he said.

At the same time, Abu Samah urged the public not to speculate on the matter until investigations are completed.

A one-minute and thirty-nine-second video clip on the incident, shared by a Facebook account holder, went viral late last night and drew ire of netizens.

Meanwhile, Kunak district police chief Superintendent Mohd Nasaruddin M Nasir said statements were recorded from 10 girls from a secondary school here in connection to the case.

“We also called in their parents and school teacher to assist in shedding light on the incident,” he said.
