MACC to swoop on Sabah government agency officers soon

KOTA KINABALU: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is expected to arrest a number of officers from a government agency here soon.

Sabah MACC director Datuk Sazali Salbi said the arrests are expected to be conducted over a three-day period beginning August 20.

He said more than five people are expected to be arrested and charged.

"We have set up strategy to conduct the operation and investigations are still ongoing," he said when met at the Jalur Gemilang campaign event at the state Federal Administrative Complex here today.

Sazali said MACC has also lined up an operation against another agency next month.

He said the state MACC had briefed its headquarters in Putrajaya about the upcoming arrests and the plan has been approved.

"We will hold a press conference (in a few weeks) to divulge more on both operations.

"MACC will also call up anyone, even (the suspects') wives or siblings, to assist the investigations."

Earlier, Sabah Federal Secretary Datuk Nor Rizan Mohd Thani distributed the Jalur Gemilang to 26 government departments.

"This programme is a gesture of support, collaboration and commitment from federal government departments and agencies of the flag-waving campaign."

Nor Rizan also flagged off 11 vehicles with 50 participants who would make the trip to Sekolah Menengah Inanam and Kampung Tatahan community hall today.

The Jalur Gemilang programme was jointly organised by the Information Department and State Federal Secretary office.
