KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak congratulated the Malaysian football team for its win against Brunei in their Sea Games opening match on Monday.
Via his twitter account, @najibrazak, he wrote, “Congratulations to the football team, magnificent 3 points. Keep up the good work! #BangkitBersama #KL2017."
Goals by Safawi Rasid and Adam Nor Azlin earned Malaysia a hard-fought 2-1 win over Brunei in their opening Group A match of the Sea Games football competition at the Shah Alam Stadium.
Malaysia scored early in the match through Safawi in the fourth minute of the first half.
In the second half, Adam headed in Safawi's corner kick to give Malaysia the lead in the 60th minute.
