Two killed, one injured as MPV slams into tree, flips on its side

PENDANG: Two men were killed and another injured when the Toyota Vellfire they were in crashed into a tree at Km56.5 of the North-South Expressway, near here, today.

Teow Seng Wee, 44, was killed when he was flung out of the vehicle he was driving, while 89-year-old Leong Ah Kow died while receiving treatment at Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital.

Their friend Huang Jun Yi, 39, who sat next to Leong in one of the back seats of the MPV, escaped with minor injuries.

District police chief Deputy Superintendent Fadzil Hashim said the accident occurred about 1pm when the three were returning to their respective homes in Penang.

“Teow was believed to have lost control of the vehicle before it crashed into the tree at the side of the expressway and then flipped onto its side.”
