MACC confident new IGP will strengthen police force

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is confident that the appointment of Datuk Seri Mohamad Fuzi Harun as the new Inspector-General of Police will make the police force a better and more powerful enforcement agency.

MACC chief commissioner Datuk Dzulkifli Ahmad, in a statement today, on behalf of the anti-graft agency, congratulated Fuzi who was officially appointed the new IGP yesterday.

“MACC is confident with Fuzi’s appointment, that he will be able to bring changes and reforms to the police force to make it a better and more powerful agency, and at the same time will ensure the police are free from any form of corruption and power abuse.

“MACC also believes he will carry out his responsibilities freely, bravely and with integrity,” Dzulkifli said.

He said MACC was also confident that the appointment would further strengthen the cooperation between the two agencies in combating crime in the country.

In the statement, MACC also urged the government to review the wages and welfare schemes of enforcement agencies’ officers, particularly police, as one of the important preventive measures to stop them from taking bribe and misuse their power.
