ALOR STAR: Seven police reports have been lodged in Kedah against two men who were said to have insulted the late Sultan of Kedah, Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah via their Facebook postings.

One report was lodge at the Kota Star district police headquarters and six others were made at Baling district police district police headquarters today.

Kedah Umno Youth chief Datuk Shaiful Hazizy Zainol Abidin said the youth wing lodged a report at 12.30pm, followed by six reports in Baling at 3pm by the Umno Baling division, its three wings, a village development and security committee, and a non-governmental organisation.

He said the reports were made against Hershel Tan and Sheikh Noor Afandi, both who had allegedly attacked the late sultan with their Facebook postings.

"We urged for a thorough investigation against the two individuals who have insulted the late sultan's good name.

"Their postings are also disrespectful to the Kedah royal family and have hurt the feeling of Kedahans, who are still saddened by the demise of their sultan," he told reporters after lodging the report.

He added even if the two individuals apologised, action must still be taken against them for their actions.

Sultan Abdul Halim passed away at 2.30pm at Istana Anak Bukit on Monday.

A royal funeral steeped in tradition was held at the royal mausoleum in Langgar yesterday.
