JOHOR BARU: A policeman was killed when the motorcycle he was riding was rammed into by a Perdua Myvi at Km24 of the Johor Baru-Pontian road here on Saturday.
Constable Rashkhairul Aqil Raszali, 23, who was based at the Skudai police station, died on the spot in the 12.40am mishap.
It is understood that the Myvi had veered into Rashkhairul’s lane without warning, and he was unable to avoid the vehicle in time.
“The driver of the car, aged 20, was making a U-turn,” Iskandar Puteri police chief ACP Noor Hashim Mohamad said in a statement, adding that the driver was remanded for three days after turning himself in at the nearest police station.
"He has a driving licence, but we will investigate further. We hope members of the public who have further information could come forward to assist in the investigation,” he added. -- BERNAMA
