Motorcyclist killed in crash on Second Link Expressway

ISKANDAR PUTERI: A 31-year-old motorcyclist was killed when he crashed into a rear of a vehicle along the Second Link Expressway, here, today.

The victim was travelling towards Tuas in Singapore for work, when the 10.45am accident occurred.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Rahmat Ariffin said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. Initial investigations revealed the vehicle driver had stopped on the right lane of the highway due to traffic congestion, when the motorcyclist crashed into it.

Meanwhile in an unrelated case, police arrested a 44-year-old suspected drug addict at a petrol kiosk in Bandar Selesa Jaya, here, yesterday.

The man had a 63cm-long parang and drugs suspected to be methamphetamine in his possession.

The man, currently in police custody, had eight previous criminal offences for drug abuse and break-ins.He was remanded to facilitate the investigation under Section 12 (2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and Section 6 (1) of the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act.
