KSPA gets RM60,000 boost from state

KOTA KINABALU: The Kinabalu Shell Press Awards (KSPA) ceremony, which marks its silver anniversary this year, will be held on November 17.

KSPA, a tripartite collaboration between Sabah Journalists Association (SJA), oil company Shell and Sabah government, aims to boost journalistic excellence among the media fraternity in Sabah and Labuan.

The state government has continued its support for KSPA.

Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Aman presented a mock cheque worth RM60,000 to SJA president Muguntan Vanar during the organising committee’s courtesy call, here, on Tuesday.

Musa said the state government appreciated the good work of the press and hoped that the financial support would encourage the media to further enhance the standard of journalism.

Muguntan, who is also the 2017 KSPA organising chairman, extended an invitation to Musa to be the guest of honour at
the event.

He said the chief minister
was supportive of SJA efforts to have its own building in Jalan Keramat, Mile 2, off Jalan Tuaran Lama.

The KSPA is open to full-time journalists, photographers and producers from the print and electronic media, including stringers and part-time journalists since 2013.

A total of 293 entries have been selected.
