Burden lifted off Banting Hospital with 2018 Budget allocation

BANTING: Plans for an additional modular operating theatre at the Banting Hospital – as announced under the 2018 Budget – means that the days of referring patients to the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital (HTAR) in Klang will soon be over.

Banting Hospital director Dr Sabrina Che Ab Rahman said she is glad over the announcement made by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak that the hospital, along with two others – Muar and Balik Pulau – will each be awarded operating theatres as part of a RM1.4 billion allocation.

"By having another operating theatre, Banting Hospital will be able to bring healthcare provisions closer to home.

"This is compared to now, when patients who need surgery are referred to HTAR ," she told the New Straits Times.

Sabrina also thanked Health Minister Datuk Seri S. Subramaniam, whom she said has always been concerned over the proper implementation of the healthcare transformation plan for the benefit of the people.

The RM1.4 billion fund will also go towards covering the upgrading and maintenance of health facilities, medical equipment and ambulances at the three hospitals.
