SEMPORNA: A tourist from China was found drowned at a resort in Pulau Mabul near here yesterday – just 24 hours after the drowning of another Chinese guest.
Yan Xin, 30, was diving in an area known as Lobster Wall with his wife and five others at 3.15pm. Fifteen minutes later, the rest of the party realised he was missing.
Yan’s wife and friends searched the area for him, to no avail.
"The victim was found by the skipper of a boat which takes divers to the location,” Semporna district police chief Supt Peter Umbuas said in a statement.
He said Yan was transported to the Semporna Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police have classified the case as sudden death.
On Friday, Chinese tourist Shen Dong, 26, was found drowned at the same location at about 11.50am. -- BERNAMA
