GEORGE TOWN: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has offered condolences to Tanjong MCA Youth chief Lim Swee Bok who lost four family members in a fire at his house at Pintasan Cecil 5, Pengkalan Weld yesterday.
Najib's political secretary Wong Nai Chee attended the wake at Sri Saujana Flat, Lebuh Macallum and personally conveyed the condolences of Najib and his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor.
"The prime minister is deeply saddened over Lim’s loss," he said during the wake here today.
Meanwhile MCA president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai, deputy president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong, vice president Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun and state chairman Datuk Tan Teik Cheng were present at the wake to pay last respects to Lim's family members.
The 6am incident claimed the life of Lim’s mother Lau Sai Poh, 62, wife Chen Yen, 35, and his two children, Im Jia Yiin, 8, and Lim Yin Chun, 9.
The Fire and Rescue Department is still investigating the cause of the fire.
