Poison pen letters target civil servants due for promotion

KUANTAN: Envy among civil servants attribute to 90 percent of poison pen letters received by the State Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.

Most of such letters were targetted at tarnishing those who were due for promotions within state government agencies and departments.

State MACC deputy operations chief Ab Munien Ibrahim warned action will be taken against those who write such letters.

Munien said this during the Corruption Free Pledge involving senior leaders and members of of the Pahang Farmers Organisation (Pasfa).

The MACC will go to the extent of visiting offices of those linked to the letters in their probe as each complaint will be taken seriosly, he said.

“We will investigate each letter were get to ascertain the truth behind the allegations,” he said but cautioned any ill-intent will not be let off.

“Most of the letters we investigate are not true because it originates from internal disputes within the departments or agencies.”

Farmers' Organisations Authority (LPP) deputy director-general (Development) Hamzah Bahari said the pledge here was the first in the country.

Those from other states will also be making the pledge soon, he said in the ceremony led by Pasfa chairman Datuk Mustaffar Kamal Ab Hamid.
