Major soil collapse at Serdang car park damages 11 vehicles

SERDANG: A major soil collapse incident caused 11 parked vehicles to slide to the edge of a storm drain at Jalan LP 1A/2, Taman Lestari Perdana, Serdang on Monday.

Although members of the public were alarmed by the 6.20pm incident, no one was injured.

The Selangor Fire and Rescue Department was alerted to the situation almost immediately.

Its assistant director Mohd Sani Harul said eight firefighters in two fire engines were deployed from the Serdang Fire and Rescue Station to the site.

"Upon arrival at the site, (the firefighters) found that a large portion of a (parking lot) had sunk (into a) large drain, causing 11 vehicles of various models to slide down.

"(However), there were no victims involved and (the incident) did not cause damage to the structure of (a nearby) building.

"The site was closed to the public and the case was handed over to local authorities for further action," he said in a statement.
