Three teenagers killed in two separate accidents on Jalan Kuala Lumpur-Kota Baru

RAUB: Three teenagers were killed in two separate accidents at Jalan Kuala Lumpur-Kota Baru here yesterday and in the early hours today.

In the first incident at Km 352 at 10.35pm last night, Form Two student Chin Hao Yik, 14, was killed when his motorcycle collided with a parked lorry.

In the second incident at Km 351 at 1.50am today, motorcycle rider S. Arunraj and passenger B. Arivarasa, both 17, were killed when they crashed into a car.

Raub district police chief Superintendent Wan Mohd Zahari Wan Busu said that Chin, who lived at Taman Sungai Klau here, was heading home when he crashed into the parked heavy vehicle and died on the spot.

"The lorry driver has yet to lodge a police report (over the accident)," he said.

Meanwhile, in the second incident, Zahari said initial investigations found that the two teenagers were travelling from Kuala Lipis to Raub when their motorcycle suddenly ended up on the opposing lane and collided with a car.

He said the driver of the car was unable to brake in time and ended up crashing into the motorcycle. Both teenagers died at the scene.

"Both separate accidents occurred within a mere kilometre of each other.

"Both are being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987," he said.
