Flood victims can call 24-hour hotline MudahSokmo for assistance

KUALA TERENGGANU: Datuk Seri Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman’s personal mobile number has been buzzing non-stop since the start of the north-easterly monsoon season.

The Terengganu menteri besar has as a result decided to establish a dedicated Hotline to cater to the deluge of messages he receives daily. The ‘24-hour Hotline’ MudahSokmo can be reached at 03-6225994 (during office hours) and on mobile phone 012-6103900 (after office hours).

“I receive no less than a few thousand messages daily, several hundred hourly.

“These are mainly from victims of floods. I sympathise with them and try to resolve their issues as promptly as possible,” he said.

Razif said a dedicated team at his office in Wisma Darul Iman would handle all the Hotline calls, which he said would be treated with equal importance.

“I understand that the people want their problems to be resolved expeditiously and have directed my Hotline team to take action as soon as possible,” he said after announcing a RM5.004 million dividend payout by state-owned Terengganu Incorporated Sdn Bhd (TI) to its shareholders at Wisma Darul Iman.

Razif added that whenever time permitted, he would go on his rounds to flood-hit areas to offer moral support , financial and goods assistance.

“Additionally, we have roped in counselors to attend to flood victims who suffer from stress, and to handle religious, healthcare , food and beverage issues,” he said.

TI has to date, since 2006, paid out a total of RM59.894 million to its shareholders as part of its harnessing investment for the rakyat initiatives.

“In view of the lukewarm economy, especially with lower revenue from timber, oil and gas, the state government has initiated several cost-saving measures by reducing unnecessary expenditure and overheads.

“Among them are a realignment exercise of activities; restructuring of TI to ensure optimal returns on investments; and a strategic plan until 2020 to improve the coffers,” he said.
