Early X'mas for 50 poor children

KUALA LUMPUR: Fifty underprivileged children had an early Christmas today as they were entertained by contestants of the Miss Tourism International 2017 at Sunway Putra Mall here.

In conjuction with the festive holidays, the mall launched its year-end corporate social responsibility campaign called “The Gift Bank”.

The campaign was to collect donations such as clothes, toys and daily essentials for poor children.

The celebration was launched by Sunway Malls and Theme Parks chief executive officer H.C. Chan, Sunway Malls chief operating officer Kevin Tan and Sunway Putra Mall general manager Phang Sau Lian.

Chan said the campaign was part of efforts to make a difference in the children's life.

"We hope to inspire people to remember the less fortunate and give them support.”

The chidren, aged between 4 and 17, consisted 40 from children’s homes of Destiny Starting Point Klang and 10 from Dialogue in the Dark Academy.

One of the highlights at the event was when the beauty contestants handed out presents to the children with Christmas gifts.
