Policeman loses left hand in accident along SILK highway

KUALA LUMPUR: A policeman's left hand was severed in a motorcycle accident along the SILK highway today.

Constable Alfian Nor Ali, 25, had just finished a 24-hour shift and was on his motorcycle en route to his home in Bandar Baru Bangi about 7.30am.

Alfian, who is attached to the Narcotics Department at the Cheras police headquarters, reportedly lost control of his motorcycle and hit the rear of another motorcycle.

His motorcycle swerved to the left and crashed into a divider. The accident saw his left hand severed.

Kajang police chief Assistant Commissioner Ahmad Dzaffir Mohd Yussof confirmed the incident, adding that Alfian also broke his neck.

He said the other motorcyclist in the accident sustained light injuries.

Alfian was rushed to the Serdang Hospital. He is reported to be in stable condition.
