KUALA TERENGGANU: The number of flood victims who are seeking shelter at the Darul Iman Training Centre (DITC) in Kijal has gone up to 251 people from 61 families this evening.
According to the State Wefare Department flood portal, at 3pm, the number of flood victims was slightly up compared to only 99 people from 23 families evacuated at 8am Friday morning.
The DITC relief centre in Telok Kalong, Kijal began operating today to cater to the victims after their houses were inundated by 0.5-metre deep floodwaters.
The portal stated that the number of evacuees included 81 children and 21 toddlers compared to 36 children and six toddlers in the morning.
At present all of victims evacuated are from Kampung Telok Kalong.
It was learnt that more evacuees are expected should the situation worsens.
