KLANG: A 58-year-old man was found dead in his Taman Sentosa home after a prayer altar caught fire this morning.
Authorities said the victim, identified as Sang Lai Wah, was believed to have died due to smoke inhalation.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Azmi Osman said his team received a call at 7.53am and dispatched 13 firemen to the house.
"They arrived at the scene at 8.02am, rushed in and carried the victim out of the unit two minutes later.
"However, he was pronounced dead by a team of paramedics from Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital," he said.
Azmi said checks showed the fire only involved areas around the vicinity of the prayer altar in the house. No injury was found on the victim's body.
"We believe he died of smoke inhalation. But the actual cause of death can only be confirmed by the police after a post mortem." he said.
