Terengganu registers sharp rise in flood victims

KUALA TERENGGANU: The number of flood victims in Terengganu rose to 333 people today, compared to 175 people from the previous day.

State Civil Defence Department director Che Adam A Rahman said the number of flood victims rose in the Kemaman district, with another relief centre opened in Kampung Pasir Gajah to house 12 people from four families.

Kemaman currently has 77 flood victims seeking refuge in four relief centres.

Dungun is also on the receiving end of inclement weather, with 256 people from 93 families being housed in three relief centres.

Adam said that as of 8am today, the Teladas Kg Air Putih bridge in Kemaman has been closed to all vehicles while Jalan Batu 10 was closed to all light vehicles due to floods.

Jalan Sungai Pinang as well as Jalan Pasir Gajah-Kampung Laut are under 0.5m of water, rendering them closed off to light vehicles.

Jalan Kampung Tempurung - Pasir Minar and Jalan Kampung Paman – LPT 2 also closed to light vehicles due to floods.
