LUMUT: An American citizen was killed, while his British female companion sustained serious injuries after the Yamaha Ego motorcycle they were riding skidded and crashed at Km 5 of Jalan Sungai Pinang Kecil-Teluk Dalam in Pulau Pangkor here on Wednesday.
In the 11.30 am incident, Jerry Ray Pizor, 34, died at the scene due to severe bodily injuries, while the pillion rider, Lauren Claire Bailey, 28, was injured on her head and face.
Manjung district deputy police chief DSP Chong Bhoo Khim said initial investigation revealed that the accident occurred when the tourists were heading from Sg Pinang Kecil to Teluk Dalam.
“The rider is believed to have lost control of the motorcycle while going down a hill before the machine crashed into a divider on the right side of the road,” he said in a statement here.
Chong said the woman was now being treated at the Manjung Hospital.
The autopsy report on the deceased from the same hospital showed that the man died due to traumatic lung and intra-abdominal injuries, he added. - Bernama
