BALING: Two cobras, which were battling it out in front of a house in Kampung Baru, Jalan Hospital in Baling, were captured by the Civil Defence Department yesterday evening.
Baling Civil Defence Department officer, Lieutenant Mohd Faizol Ab Aziz said they received an alert of the incident at 6pm before deploying a team, who arrived at the site 15 minutes later.
The personnel took around 15 minutes to capture the two fighting cobras, which measured one metre each and weighed around two kilogrammes.
He said the hot weather has led to the reptiles venturing out into residential areas.
“We have already caught three venomous snakes in the span of four days,” he said.
He said cobras are usually commonly found by the department, as opposed to king cobras, which are rarer.
He said those who encounter venomous creatures are advised to exercise caution and contact the 999 hotline for assistance.
