Hai-O donates RM50,000 to Tabung Bencana NSTP-Media Prima

KLANG: Tabung Bencana (Disaster Relief Fund) NSTP-Media Prima today received a contribution of RM50,000 from Sahajidah Hai-O Marketing Sdn Bhd executive chairman Tan Kai Hee in aid of flood victims.

Tan presented the cheque, a personal contribution, to Media Prima Bhd’s Donations and Corporate Social Responsibility Unit at his office here today.

Receiving the cheque on behalf of Media Prima was group corporate communications department manager Muhammad Nazim Ismail.

Tan said many flood victims were distraught by the catastrophic flooding in Penang last year, an incident which had taken huge toll on the people, both mentally and emotionally.

As such, he stated that this was his reason to donate to the disaster relief fund, to help flood victims through monetary aid.

“Although we did not personally experience the floods there, we were deeply saddened by how devastating the situation was in Penang when we read the news in the papers and saw it on television.

“Our branch in Butterworth was not spared by the floods too. The state government had said the mainland, Seberang Prai was the worst affected by the floods, with the highest number of flood relief centres and victims.

“We received news from our staff in the Butterworth branch that the floods were so bad that a lot of our stocks were badly damaged by the waters. We also read about people losing homes, properties and belongings damaged, massive destructions and lost of lives.

“It is our utmost hope that our contribution will help rebuild their lives by providing them with the necessities they require,” Tan added.

The mock cheque handover ceremony was witnessed by Sahajidah Hai-O Marketing general manager Tham Yoke Lon.

The company had in November, last year contributed RM50,000 to the Tabung Bencana to assist victims of the floods, which devastated parts of Penang and Kedah.
