Lorry driver slashed to death by four masked assailants

SHAH ALAM: A 27-year-old man was killed after he was repeatedly slashed by four unknown assailants in front of a restaurant in Jeram, Selangor, yesterday.

The victim was said to be having dinner with three of his friends when a white Perodua Myvi pulled over at the restaurant and four parang wielded men alighted from the vehicle in the 9pm incident.

Kuala Selangor deputy police chief Superintendent Md Asri Wahab said the four assailants were wearing masks and attacked the victim, lorry driver Mohan Sukumaran, and three of his friends.

“The trio managed to flee but the victim was repeatedly slashed during the incident, which occurred as he moved from the front of the restaurant to a bedroom located at the back of the restaurant.

“Police were informed of the incident by a passer-by. Initial investigations revealed that the assailants escaped and fled towards Kapar. The victim was sent to Hospital Sungai Buloh and confirmed dead at 11.10pm.

“The motive behind the attack is still being investigated. Further updates will be released following the post-mortem report.”

Asri said police were tracking the victim’s friends who fled the scene to facilitate investigations.

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code (for murder).
