Not again! Two boys killed, one injured as car ploughs into Johor mosquito bikers

PONTIAN: Two boys were killed and another injured when they and a fourth youth on mosquito bikes were rammed by a Toyota Altis at Jalan Kampung Maju Jaya, Pekan Nanas here on Wednesday night.

In the 11pm incident, Ibnu Ahmad Ahmad Nais, 16, and a second boy who is yet to be identified died when the Toyota Altis, driven by a 38-year old man, ploughed through the group of four boys who were returning home from kompang-playing practice.

The third boy survived with a broken shoulder, while the fourth was unscathed.

Eyewitness Fazli Hashim, 36, said he saw the mosquito bike riders cruising along the main road moments before he heard a loud crashing sound.

"As I turned to look, I saw a bike had been flung into the air.

“I ran towards them and saw that one was unhurt. But a further check saw that three others were bleeding from their heads," he said.

Meanwhile Ibnu Ahmad’s grandmother, Bechik Kadasek, 73, said that her grandson had made a passing joke to her once that he will soon follow his dead grandfather (to the grave).

"I did not expect his joke to come true," she said.

This is the second major fatal incident in Johor involving mosquito bike riders, after eight boys were killed at Jalan Lingkaran Dalam in Jalan Mahmoodiah, Johor Baru on Feb 18 last year.
