SHAH ALAM: Visitors at Gegaria Fest can purchase their food using their mobile phones, thanks to a home-grown cashless payment application called Boost App.
Boost strategic development director Aiza Azreen Ahmad said the app is an e-wallet that allows its customers to pay for products and services without taking out their wallets.
She said Gegaria Fest visitors could download the Boost App application on their mobile phones and register for free.
“To make a payment, a Boost user needs to scan the Boost QR code at any of the food trucks at Gegaria (as well as other participating locations) and make the transaction.
“It is easy, fast and safe to use. There is no need for the user to make payments with cash.
“This method of going cashless makes things easier for the merchants as well because they don’t to keep the cash and it is safe.
“It is popular among students as it provides cashbacks and discounts to its users,” she said.
A first-time Boost App user, Atikah Yusuf, 30, said she no longer has to carry her bulky wallet everywhere she goes.
“I think this should be used by everyone. People should go cashless because its easier and safer,” she said.
Meanwhile, Fadhlur Rahman, 42, said he supports the idea of cashless payments as an easier alternative to purchase products.
“Even parking lots use cashless payment. This is good especially for those who don’t bring enough cash in their wallets.
“The Boost App can also save its users money,” he said.
Users can pay with Boost App at selected locations in the Klang Valley, including night markets, food courts and food trucks.
Boost App users can also send money to another user for free with no interbank charges, regardless of their which mobile networks they are using.
