BATU KAWAN: The Penang - Kedah friendly football match at the Batu Kawan Stadium here last night had an unlikely casualty, when a man accidentally fell into the stadium drain.
The man, in his 30s, sustained mild injuries after falling into the five-metre deep drain.
The incident was reportedly took place about 9.30pm after the half-time whistle was blown by the referee.
The man had been leaning on the fence at the terrace. He somehow slipped and fell headlong into the drain.
Civil Defence Force personnel who were at the scene acted swiftly and managed to bring out the man within 15 minutes.
"He was brought to the Sungai Bakap Hospital for treatment," said a spokesman.
