No Malaysians involved in South Korea hospital fire: Foreign Ministry

PUTRAJAYA: No Malaysians were involved in the deadly blaze at a hospital in South Korea, Wisma Putra confirmed today.

“The Foreign Ministry wishes to confirm that based on the information received from local authorities through the Embassy of Malaysia in Seoul, no Malaysians were involved in the incident,” it said in a statement.

At least 37 people have been killed in the fire at Sejong Hospital in Miryang, with more than 70 injured.

Many patients reportedly walked through flames and thick smoke to escape the first-floor blaze.

The hospital’s director, Song Byeong-chol, was quoted saying the dead included a doctor, a nurse and a nursing assistant.
