MACC hopes Selangor government will take Corruption-Free Pledge soon

SHAH ALAM: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) hopes that the signing of the Corruption Free Pledge (IBR) with the Selangor state government will materialise the soonest possible following the positive response from Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Azmin Ali.

Selangor MACC director Datuk Alias Salim said he was happy with the development and Azmin's intention of meeting him.

"Selangor MACC will always give our support (to efforts such as this) to ensure civil servants and the people in the state can come together and fight graft.

"He (Azmin) said he wanted to meet me and to discuss on efforts such as the IBR, which we can assist them with. However, a date has yet to be fixed for the meeting.

"An official letter has been sent to Azmin's office requesting for a meeting," said Alias today.

Alias said this when met after the signing of IBR between MACC and the Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA) here.

Also present was state FAMA director Datuk Abdul Ghariff Ramin.

The Selangor state government is the only administration in the country that has yet to embrace the IBR.

Meanwhile, Alias said so far, a total of 105 state agencies and private companies have signed the IBR and 50 more are in the process of discussions.

"We hope to conclude all 50 this year and we also welcome government linked companies to come onboard," he said.
