LANGKAWI: Five teenagers were found exhausted by a dam today after they were reported missing for more than five hours in Bukit Malut forest here.
Search and rescue team found Wan Nor Hisham Wan Satar, Mohd Shakir Ahmad Yani, Mohd Arif Ridzuan Mohd Nor, Mohd Anas Husaini Mohd Fazilah, all 18, at the water’s edge of Bukit Malut dam at 4am.
State Fire and Rescue public relations officer Mohamad Mustakim Mukhtar said the identity of the other teenager had yet to be ascertained.
“All the five teenagers were safe,” he said in a statement.
Mustakim said they went into the forest to fish at about 3.30pm but failed to return home in due time.
He said the the department was alerted about their disappearance at 10.52pm.
He said six firemen in two engines from Persiaran Putra station were dispatched to the scene to mount a search and rescue (SAR) mission.
