Terengganu Police geared up for GE14

HULU TERENGGANU: Terengganu will mobilise 2,400 policemen to ensure public safety, security and to smoothen the running of the 14th General Election (GE14) in the state.

State police chief Datuk Aidi Ismail said all officers and personnel had undergone through training sessions and understood their role during campaigning, vote counting and announcement of the results.

"They (policemen) will be assigned to the polling stations throughout the state and had been tasked to monitor activities at the voting streams in the state," he told reporters after witnessing the 14th General Election simulation at the Dataran Kuala Berang today.

"This is the second training involving more than 500 policemen including those from Kuala Terengganu, Selangor and Negeri Sembilan.

"We are also waiting for Bukit Aman to respond to the state’s request for additional 420 policemen,” he said adding that beside the staff, the preparation also involved the use of assets which would be used to ensure public order.

Present at the event were Hulu Terengganu Umno Division chief Datuk Seri Jailani Johari and Kuala Berang State Assembleyman Datuk Yengku Putera Tengku Awang.
