No place for 'Rooney' in Terengganu team

KUALA TERENGGANU: Terengganu have no plans to sign their former midfielder, Lee Tuck, for the upcoming M-League season.

Terengganu CEO Sabri Abas confirmed that the naturalised player is not on their radar despite the Englishman showing interest in returning to the club.

He added the Turtles do not need another midfielder in the team after hiring a Croatian player.

"For now, Lee Tuck is not in our plans. Even coach Tomislav Steinbruckner said he does not need another midfielder in the team," said Sabri.

"We have many local and foreign midfielders in the team. It is complete. Furthermore, we want to develop and provide our young players with regular matches.

"We have a limited budget, so we need to be prudent with our spending.

"We must apologise to Lee Tuck as we can't offer him a contract."

The 36-year-old, fondly known as 'Rooney', is now a successful real estate agent in England.

He last played for Terengganu in 2022.

Last year, he donned Kedah colours before returning to England midway through the season.
