Major road closures in KL for Sunday's World Urban Run

KUALA LUMPUR: Several major roads in the heart of the capital will be closed on Sunday morning to make way for the highly-anticipated ‘World Urban Run’.

City police Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department chief Assistant Commissioner Zulkefly Yahya said road closures will take place in stages, from 6am to 11am.

Set to commence at 6.45am, the Run is divided into three categories – 5km, 10km and 15km – and is expected to attract thousands of participants.

Roads affected by the closure are Jalan Parlimen, Jalan Tun Ismail, Jalan Sultan Sallehuddin, the Dato Onn roundabout, Jalan Tang Ling, Jalan Lembah, Jalan Bukit Tunku, Jalan Tugu, Taman Tasik Perdana and surrounding areas, the Jalan Sultan Ismail-Jalan Raja Laut junction, the Jalan Sultan Ismail-Jalan T.A. Rahman junction, Jalan Dang Wangi-Jalan Ampang, Jalan Ampang-Ampang Highway, Jalan Tun HS Lee-Jalan Tun Perak, Jalan Tun Perak-Jalan T.A. Rahman and Jalan Raja-Dataran Merdeka.

Zulkefly advised those heading to the city centre on Sunday morning to use alternative roads to avoid congestion.

The public is also urged to use public transportation, while motorists are reminded to adhere to traffic rules as well as the instructions of on-duty officers.
