Muafakat Kedah Expo expected to draw thousands

ALOR STAR: Kedah state government is aiming to attract 400,000 visitors to the Muafakat Kedah Expo, the biggest exposition ever to be held in the state, from Feb 24 to March 3.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah said the week-long expo, to be held at Darul Aman Stadium, will showcase the state government's achievements and its masterplan for all Kedahans.

He said the exposition will showcase 20 clusters covering various sectors with the participation of 199 government departments and agencies from both federal and state level, as well as corporate sector.

"There will be a lot of events to be held in conjunction with the Muafakat Kedah Expo from job fair, tertiary education promotions, attractive offers for properties, price slash for essential items and so on.

"Officers from Bank Negara and financial institutions will also take part in the exposition to assist those looking for their dream home.

"The exposition will also feature food trucks, Kedah best street foods and so on to help local entrepreneurs to promote their products and services.

"In short, there is something for everyone at the exposition, which is tailored to cater the needs and aspirations of people from all walks of life," he said after visiting the site today.

Among the clusters to be showcased at the exposition are Royal Kedah Showcase, Barakah Kedah, Kedah Digital, Financial, Kedah Bizz, Kedah Agro, Kedah Islamic initiatives, petting zoo and many more.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to get up close with Malaysian astronaut Datuk Dr Sheikh Muszaphar Sheikh Mustapha, local celebrities such as Fattah Amin, Fizo Omar, Rozita Che Wan, Janna Nick and many more.

Bashah said besides Kedahans, the state government also aims to attract visitors from Perlis, Penang and northern Perak.

He said visitors will also stand a chance to win lucky draws offering prizes including a car, motorcycles, electrical appliances, hotel stay vouchers, holiday packages, home decoration, gadgets and many more.

Bashah added that the state government has also agreed to add additional grand prizes for the lucky draw, which he will be announced later.
