GERIK: Four people were killed and six injured – two seriously – in a three-vehicle collision at Km45.4 of Jalan Raya Timur Barat (JRTB) Gerik-Jeli here, this afternoon.
Initial reports indicate that two victims were killed on the spot, while two others were pronounced dead while receiving treatment at the Gerik Hospital.
The 12.45pm accident, which occurred near the Tasik Banding Fishery Department here, involved an Audi, an Isuzu D-Max and a Perodua Kenari.
"We received a distress call at 12.56pm. Upon arrival, we discovered that two of the victims were (already dead).
"The firemen are still conducting a rescue operation at the site," Gerik Fire and Rescue Department chief Azizul Aswad Asaris said when contacted.
"The deceased were travelling in the Audi and Isuzu D-Max. It is learnt that the Isuzu D-Max was carrying a family.
"They were heading towards Jeli from Gerik, while the Audi was heading in the opposite direction," Azizul added.
