Couple returning from own wedding injured when motorcycle crashes into fallen tree in front of KLCC

KUALA LUMPUR: A couple who had only just gotten married were injured when their motorcycle crashed into a tree which fell across Jalan Ampang in from of KLCC this morning.

Mira Ezva Abd Rasid, 25, said she and her new husband Norazrul Ahmad were returning from a mosque in Cheras after the nikah ceremony when the tree came crashing down right in front of them.

“It all happened in a flash... the tree fell right in front of us and my husband didn’t have enough time to avoid it or brake so we crashed right into it. I am just thankful that we weren’t killed, but my husband is still unconscious and I am worried,” she said at Kuala Lumpur Hospital.

Mira said even though she worked as a security officer at a shopping centre in nearby Ampang, that was the first time she had used that particular section of Jalan Ampang.

“This is a tough challenge for me... we had only just gotten married. I hope my husband recovers,” sehe said.

Mira said her focus now was on just being around for her husband.

Only once his condition stabilises will she even begin to think about taking legal action against the relevant people.

“I will not hesitate to take action... this is something which involves the lives of people. My husband and I were lucky the tree did not fall on us... there is no telling what would have happened to us if that had happened.”
