Terengganu BN seat allocations settled, says Razif [NSTTV]

KUALA LUMPUR: Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman says all state seats have been allocated.

He said one urban seat was given to MCA while the rest went to Umno.

“MCA will be getting one urban seat based on Barisan Nasional chairman Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s wishes and the coalition’s traditional policy of consensus,” he said after handing RM200,000 from the Nur Iman (state) fund to the family of 10-month-old Faris Wafiuddin Faris Irwan who is to be sent to Renji Hospital in Shanghai, China, to receive treatment for liver inflammation.

He said Najib would decide on the list of candidates.

Razif said he was confident that he would be able to deliver more seats than his predecessor, Datuk Seri Ahmad Said, who led the BN campaign in the state during the 13th General Election (GE13).

Asked how many seats he expected to deliver, Razif said that was his “secret”.

BN lost seven seats in Terengganu in GE13 and four seats in the previous elections.

The opposition, especially Pas, is banking on wresting Terengganu back from BN.

Pas won Terengganu in 1999 and 1959.

The party’s president, Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang, served as menteri besar from 1999 to March 2004.

The state was recaptured by BN in 2004 when Datuk Seri Abdullah Badawi sought his mandate as prime minister.
