All hell breaks loose outside Victoria's Secret store

KUALA LUMPUR: A video clip emerged on social media today of shoppers pushing and shoving to get into a Victoria’s Secret outlet at an undisclosed shopping centre.

It is believed that the screaming shoppers were scrambling over Victoria’s Secret Fresh Escape Mist Collection promotion, which features a “buy two, free one” at RM79 each offer.

Scores of shoppers are seen rushing into the premises. The gate is then closed to stop the rest of the crowd from flooding in.

The bargain-hunting chaos drew sharp criticism from netizens.

They slammed the shoppers behaving in an uncivilized and uncouth manner.

Some said they could not understand why shoppers would go through such havoc for discounts.

Others said the potential savings from the sale was not worth the trouble.

Facebook user Syafina Fina commented that it would have been much better if the shoppers were rushing to attend a sermon or religious talk.

Others asked why Malaysians were still willing to spend on luxuries despite complaining about the rising cost of living.

At the time of writing, the posting had been shared 2,925 times.

The scenario is reminiscent of a warehouse sale fiasco last month at the MyTown Shopping Centre in Cheras.

The sale had to be called off for security reasons.

Thousands of Apple fans had swamped the mall for Switch Malaysia’s Apple warehouse sale.

Switch Malaysia had to issue an apology and extended the sale of Apple products to all its branches nationwide.
