Rizalman keen to put 'drug episode' behind him and focus on GE14

KUALA LUMPUR: Bandar Tun Razak Umno chief, Datuk Rizalman Mokhtar, who was linked to a drug controversy recently, wants to put the incident behind him and focus on helping Barisan Nasional win the 14th General Election (GE14).

In a statement on Saturday, he urged all quarters to stop spreading untruths and cease attacking him on social media following accusations of drug use, which he has been cleared of.

“My focus now is on contributing my services and help Bandar Tun Razak BN in facing GE14.

“Alhamdulillah (Thank God), I am grateful that the pathology report by the Kuala Lumpur Hospital on my urine sample showed that it was free of any drugs.

“I also hope that my name, my family’s and Umno as well as BN is cleared through this official statement,” he said.

Rizalman also said there has been no further action from the police, and believes that the case has been closed.

He recorded his thanks to the police and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) for their work throughout the duration of the investigation.

“I also thank my family and friends who provided me with moral support,” he said.

It was reported that on April 2, Rizalman and several others were picked up at an entertainment outlets in the city. Police had then said he and several others had tested positive for drug use.

However, City police chief, Datuk Seri Mazlan Lazim on Saturday confirmed that subsequent tests on Rizalman’s urine sample, conducted at the KL Hospital, tested negative.
