WATCH: Disturbing video of injured Singaporeans on bus in deadly Karak crash emerges

VIEWER DISRETION IS ADVISED

KUALA LUMPUR: Dramatic video has emerged of moments following a deadly collision between a tour bus and a lorry on the Karak Expressway on Saturday.

A Malaysian man was killed and 13 others, mostly Singaporean tourists returning from a trip to Genting Highlands, were injured in the 3.30pm accident.

The three-minute mobile phone footage, which has gone viral on social media, is believed to have been taken by a first responder, and depicts the evacuation of passengers from the badly damaged bus.

The video clip opens with a view of the front of the bus, which appears to have been completely peeled away by the collision. The blood-splattered bus driver can be seen standing in shock next to the shattered vehicle, as rescuers and bystanders attempt to enter the bus via its front and rear.

The footage then cuts to the interior of the bus, which is still filled with passengers, all of whom appear to be injured and in a daze. The stunned occupants are heard gruffly instructed by one of the rescuers to exit the bus, and to bring their belongings with them. Some passengers appear unable to move due to their injures, and are tended to by less badly-injured individuals.

As the phone’s camera pans across the bus’s misshapened interior, one notices that the seats are without seatbelts, and that some of the television screens behind each seat are cracked from the impact of people’s faces hitting them.

Above all, the eerie quiet of the bus and the calmness of the injured passengers – no doubt suffering from shock – make the greatest impression on viewers.
