Hot tempered, stubborn drivers end up crashing in Karak

KUALA LUMPUR: Two drivers' hot tempered behaviour and unwillingness to give way to each other led to a traffic accident along KM 49.4 of the Kuala Lumpur - Karak Highway at 10.15am yesterday.

A 42-second video clip of the incident has since made its way on social media.

Bentong district police chief, Superintendent Zaiham Mohd Kahar, said the district police's Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division, in its probe, established that the incident involved a Proton Waja and a Honda.

He said the Waja was driven by a 56-year-old man, with his 25-year-old son in the passenger seat. They were on their way from Kuantan, Pahang to Kedah.

"Prior to the accident, the drivers of both cars were driving recklessly and dangerously, and had provoked each other stemming from dissatisfaction over each other's driving," he said in a statement.

"After both cars hit each other, the Waja eventually lost control and crashed into the left ditch.

"The Waja's occupants sustained light injuries. The case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987," he said.

Zaihan said witnesses can come forward to aid the investigation.

"Police also wish to remind all road users on the importance of road ethics. Educate yourself on the need to be considerate on the road.

"Road users must understand and practice ethical driving so that we can all save lives and prevent accidents," he said.
