PUTRAJAYA: National Association of Wives of Civil Servants and Women Civil Servants (Puspanita) together with Women, Family and Community Development Ministry, through its Women Development Department, have allocated RM100,000 for 2018 Women's Capacity Development Training Programme.
Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Dr Ali Hamsa, who is also Puspanita adviser said 200 Puspanita members will be given RM500 each to undergo several courses and trainings.
“They will attend various courses such as entrepreneurship, Industry Revolution 4.0, digital economy, financial literacy, online marketing and other trainings that will empower women.
“The government is always committed to develop and create a sustainable ecosystem to encourage large participation of women in the new industry,”
“This is in line with the announcement by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak during the 2018 Budget that 2018 is the Year to Empower Women,” he said at the Puspanita ‘Kidney and Health: Empowering Women’s Participation, Contribution and Ability’ Annual Seminar, here.
The event, held in conjunction with World Kidney Day celebration, featured several speakers from Kuala Lumpur Hospital and Universiti Putra Malaysia who explained on treatments and prevention for kidney failure, as well as on organ donation.
Ali said almost 40,000 patients sought hemodialysis and peritoneal treatments in 2016, and 8,000 new cases were reported the following year.
“More than 60 per cent of them have diabetes mellitus while others suffered from hypertension, glomerulonephritis, polycystic kidney disease and others.
“As the percentage of patients undergoing kidney transplantation in Malaysia is very low with at least 70 cases yearly, 99 per cent of kidney failure patients are forced to undergo dialysis treatment throughout their lives.
“The number of new patients seeking dialysis treatment is expected to increase to 100,000 patients by 2030 if there is no effective preventive measure and no increase in the kidney donation for transplant treatment,” he said.
At the event, Puspanita also donated two units of dialysis machines worth RM82,000 to the National Kidney Foundation.
