Students: 'Dr Fadi was a cheerful person and always smiled at us'

KUALA LUMPUR: ‘When I look at him, his face is smiling just like when he was still alive,’ said Ilman Abdul Razak, who paid his last respect to his lecturer, Dr Fadi M R Albatsh.

The electrical engineering student said Fadi was a cheerful person and he always smiled.

“I cannot forget his smiling face, I am surprised to see him smiling.

“He is a good lecturer and fair to every student. It is sad that I can no longer attend his class,” he said when met at Selayang Hospital mortuary today.

Palestinian lecturer Fadi was killed by unknown gunmen while on his way to dawn prayers in Setapak, Saturday morning.

Another electrical engineering student, Muhammad Shariq Hazard said Fadi’s face was very calm.

“He looks like he is sleeping. It is hard to believe that he is already gone.

“He is my lecturer since semester one until now at semester four. He is an excellent lecturer.

“The subject that I find hard to understand became easier in his class. He also teach us things that are out of syllabus,” he said.

Nur ‘Izzati Mohd Danial said she was badly hit by the news as Fadi was her supervisor for her electrical engineering final year project.

“After learning the news, the thought of postponing my studies crossed my mind as I have lost my mentor,” she said.

‘Izzati, who hails from Ipoh, Perak said she last met Fadi on Friday to discuss her final project.

“I knew him since two years ago, he is very friendly and always smiled. He will greet us every time he sees us. It is impossible he has enemies that wanted to harm him.

“I am glad that I can pay my last respect to him. He looks calm and his face is glowing. I am sad for what had happened,” said ‘Izzati.

Members of public were allowed to pay their last respect at the mortuary after the post-mortem was completed.
