Newsmen camp at Selayang Hospital for latest on Dr Fadi's murder case

KUALA LUMPUR: Local and foreign media representatives still camped outside the Selayang Hospital’s Forensic Unit compound even though the murder case of Dr Fadi M R Albatsh has entered its fourth day today.

Checks by Bernama found that some 20 media members gathered at the area since morning.

The body of the Palestinian lecturer and imam would be flown back to his native Palestine via Egypt after the relevant documentation processes were completed.

Universiti Kuala Lumpur British Malaysian Institute (UNIKL BMI) Human Capital Unit head, Arafiah Aman said they were still waiting for the Egyptian Government’s approval for the process.

“I have contacted the Palestinian Ambassador to Malaysia Datuk Dr Anwar Al Agha and he said he has not yet received the approval of the Egyptian Government so far,” she told Bernama.

Yesterday, the victim’s younger brother, Dr Rami Al Batsh, 31, said his brother’s body would be flown back to Gaza today after the completion of the documentation process.

Fadi, a lecturer in electrical engineering at a private institution of higher learning here, was gunned down outside Idaman Puteri condominium in Setapak while walking to Surau Medan Idaman to lead the subuh prayer about 6 am last Saturday.

Two gunmen were said to have waited for him on their motorcycle and fired 10 shots at the 35-year-old victim. --BERNAMA
