Daniel aims to put local agricultural products on map

KENINGAU: Barisan Nasional candidate for Keningau parliamentary seat aspires to put locally produced products on the map.

Datuk Daniel Kinsik, 59, who is pursuing his MBA (Master of Business Administration) said he wanted to improve the economy through better production and marketing strategies for local agricultural products, such as ginger, cinnamon, rice and rubber, so they were known beyond Keningau.

“About 90 per cent of places here are reachable by road, but there are more to work on like having proper routes to connect farms and plantations to the main road,” he said.

Daniel, who was former political secretary of the Energy, Green Technology and Water Ministry, also has a law background.

Despite being a fresh face, he has three decades of political exposure as a member of Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) since its formation in 1985. But that does not stop him from seeking guidance from veteran politicians to be a better leader.

“As a candidate, I sought advice from PBS president Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan, several members of Parliament and local leaders in the Keningau constituency,” said Daniel, who took over the constituency from Pairin.

He, however, said one of the challenges for younger generation was their different perception of the party as they had been exposed and might believe information on social media, even inaccurate ones.

To this end, PBS has been recruiting young members to bridge the gap and impart knowledge about the oldest political party in Sabah.
