Najib meets Umno supreme council members

KUALA LUMPUR: “It was just a normal session.”

That was the immediate response from Umno president Datuk Seri Najib Razak after holding a special meeting with the party Supreme Council members and division heads at Menara Dato’ Onn today.

He however did not elaborate further and proceeded to the awaiting car to leave the premises.

It is learnt that the meeting was held to discusss Umno and Barisan Nasional (BN) performances, as well as on next steps after a shocking defeat to Pakatan Harapan in the 14th General Election (GE14).

Among those present in the meeting were Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, vice-president Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein and secretary-general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor

Earlier, Najib attended the Yasin recital and tahlil ceremony held in conjunction with 72nd Umno celebration at Surau Ar-Rahman in Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC).

The ceremony, held after Maghrib prayers, was led by Umno Religion Bureau chairman Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom, who is also Umno Supreme Council member.

It was then followed by a dinner.

Umno Permanent Chairman Tan Sri Badruddin Amiruldin, along with some 2,000 Umno leaders and members attended the event.
