PETALING JAYA: Pakatan Harapan (PH) is holding its presidential council meeting today to finalise the formation of the new Cabinet line-up.
The meeting at the PPBM headquarters in Yayasan Selangor, which began at 10am, is being chaired by Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
PH’s component parties - PKR, PPBM, DAP and Amanah – have been tasked with nominating their candidates for some of the ministerial portfolios.
PH has outlined 10 key ministries for a start, in order to get the government in operation by this Monday.
Sources said the swearing-in of the new Cabinet, which will be finalised today, could occur as early as Monday.
Among the ministries, to be filled are:
1. Finance
2. Home Affairs
3. Defence
4. Education
5. Rural Development
6. Economy
7. Public Works
8. Transport
9. Multimedia, Science & Technology
10. Foreign
On whether the Prime Minister will hold two important portfolios – namely the Finance and Economic Planning units – will be determined today.
A post-meeting press conference is expected to held at 1pm today.
