SEREMBAN: Approximately 28 million vehicles are registered with the Road Transport Department (RTD) nationwide, said Deputy Director General RTD (Planning/Operations) Datuk Wan Ahmad Uzir Wan Sulaiman.
He said of the total, only 19 million vehicle owners have been actively renewing their road tax and vehicle insurance.
“The rest who own vehicles do not renew their road tax and vehicle insurance,” he said adding that the RTD had since late March come up wth an ‘offer’ which allowed the defaulters whose road tax expiry was not more than three years, to go through the normal process.
The ‘offer’ which came into force on March 27 will end on June 30, he said after a public auction at the Negeri Sembilan RTD office here today.
Wan Ahmad Uzir said vehicle renewals could be made at any state RTD office. The exercise has also received the support and cooperation from insurance companies. -- BERNAMA
